Removing unwanted comments from your blog...
Back to Full Blog

Someone had asked me privately how to remove unwanted comments from their blog...

Make sure you are logged in. Then go to the blog post you want to remove comments from. There should be a little [del] link next to each comment. Click on that link and you will be given options to remove or delete the comment as well as an option to block the member from posting further comments on your blog.

Hi there, I am not alone in being a bit puzzled about the selection for some of the Featured Galleries (see A1 Blog Stalker [Mon 17 Oct] for instance). There are some slections which are fine. However, I have noticed that some of these blogs are scarcely ever updated (some are really lame and 'tired'), and that there are many more fantastically written, challenging and dynamic blogs and debates that NEVER get the benefit of this enhanced profile (and I do not include my own in this category, I hasten to add). I do realise that there will always be an element of subjectivity about this, but, nonetheless, I would be interested to know more about the rationale behind the selections. Kind Regards ~ DeBunkem

Hi Pioneer, I have a question for you. I've noticed that some bloggers can insert photos into their blogs - how do they do this? I've tried copying and pasting from Word but it doesn't work. I'm feeling left out. Help.

BlogStalker -- please look over to the right in this blog. There is a post regarding placing images in your blog.

I can't seem to change my icon. I have deleted the fellow from my gallery, have designated another graphic without success. Can you determine where the problem is>

How difficult would it be to add an *option* to allow non-members to comment. I realize many bloggers are afraid of spam, but I would like to get more comments. We could have all non-member comments be moderated. The blogger could then approve any comments that are not spam before they show up. Also, is trackback an option?

The only way I would even consider allowing non member comments is if they were moderated before they appeared. Having public comments just opens up a potential disaster. I have seen trackback links -- aren't those just bookmarks? Is a trackback link anything special other than a bookmark link?

Is there a way that the posts column on the right can be extended to include all posts OR at least as many as will appear on the first page? Can that setting be placed in the pallette? I note it seems to have a dynamic length but has a fixed max.

I have noted in other blog communities a meter is provided showing overall number of posts in the community over time. I believe this would be useful. Or more simply, registering the number of those currently logged into the community, placed in a graph. Perhaps it can be placed on a separate page so it does not take up room on each page.

Stealth -- currently there is no override for number of posts displayed, however when you click on the archives for a month, it will show all posts for that month. Only on the main page does it limit to a certain number. In regards to a graph of data, I may offer that in the future. For now, you can look at a recently updated bog and click on the link to view a specific post... in the top you will find the "post id" (pid). The PID increases every time a post is made. Also you will see in the navigation bar (when viewing a post): "Post #XXXX", that is the same number.

Hi Pioneer!

I banned someone and would like to unban them since I believe peace is at hand. I looked around but could not seem to find anything on that process, assuming it is possible. If it is, any hints or links would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for keeping this occasionally chaotic and always wonderful creature we know as Blogstream moving forward and for the constant improvements over time. I think you and your "staff of millions" are doing a fine job, thank you.

Best wishes,
Prank

Hi Pioneer,
Lately I've been getting comments from various people who have comment accounts, trolling for business on webdatedotcom. I've noticed these comments on other people's blogs as well. Deleting and blocking them doesn't work because they, or he/she, uses different names. Can I do anything to keep them off my blog? Here are the comments I got, sorry a few are long, but all mention webdate.

amazing views..=) I like how you captured the waves and the sunset. I like photography. maybe we can share photos sometime. I have some posted in my webdatedotcom account. Feel free to check them. |< << >> >|

that was really nice and pretty insightful. i liked how you decribed and viewed life as a journey, and i totally agree with you. our journey will never be always a smooth road... there will always be "bumps" along the way. but despite of that bumps we should never be discouraged. we should understand that those bumps are there to help us grow more and shape us to become better. i've had a couple of failed relationships, but despite of them being a "failure" i guess i could say that i'm actually happy that i got to go through them. they formed me to be a better person. now i'm happy to say that i'm engaged to someone i met online at webdatedotcom. He's one great guy i'd never let go of... and the bumps that i had to go through was definitely worth it. it didn't just mold me to who I am right now.. the path as well led me to him.=D as cheesy as it may sound..lol

i'm one with you....it's amazing as well that a person can voice out her inner thoughts at whatever channel one chooses to use. i'm thankful with webdatedotcom because men are just one click and chat away. it's not always serious relationships on the loose, there's easy flirting as well...life is more interesting to live by... |< << >> >|

Hi Pioneer. I tried to add a Chat box like Cracker has to my Shirl's Lounge blog. It said to copy/paste the URL. I did but I pasted it in the title box of my new blog!! Now the whole big url is in the side-bar as a tite, instead of just Chat Box. This opens my page out really wide. I keep trying to change this but can't. Help Please!! I can't even delete the whole thing so I can start over. Thanks
