A new feature has been added to Blogstream, the ability to "rate" a blog from 1-5 stars. 1 star being worst, 5 stars being best.
If you are logged in, a rating box will appear in the top right. Just click on the star you wish to rate the blog at. For example, if you rate the blog 4 stars out of 5, place your mouse on the 4th star and press the mouse button.
You should see the first 4 stars light up orange.
After a blog receives 20 ratings from 20 different members, the stars will show up blue to indicate the average rating given by members.
You can change your rating at any time by just clicking on a new star. Only your most recent rating counts (you cannot vote multiple times).
Currently if you rate a blog on one computer, and then visit blogstream from another computer, your old rating will not appear in orange in the stars. Do not worry, your rating is still recorded in the system, it is just not appearing on that computer. You can rate it again if you wish, but it is not necessary and will not do any harm. The last rating entered is stored in the web browser of the computer you used (for display purposes), but it is also recorded on our computers permanently.

I will look into the problem next week, I unfortunately cannot look this weekend.

BTW, if anyone has a specific technical issue please go to the contact page and write customer service directly rather than posting here. It is much more likely to be handled properly and quickly.
Thanks.

I recently added new blog navigation and it seemed (as of now) just as conveninent but will make the right side less cluttered (and allow me to put other items there).
Give it a try for a few days and see if you still have problems using the new location. I'm trying to cleanup the pages more and offer new features at the same time.
I think the new nagivation bar makes it much easier to browse around the site.

On a side note, when you upload an icon, we "stretch or shrink" it to fit into the icon space. Animated gifs do not like to be stretched or shrunk... so this may cause rendering issues in general. However, your icon has always worked well from what I have seen.
Perhaps, unfairly. How will this sort of abuse be prevented? Thank you for your time.
The rating system was dropped a while back as nobody used it.
Is it possible to have emoticons placed within the text at strategic points where the writer wants them?
The advanced text editor is extremely unstable - it disappeared on me several times whilst I was blogging today, especially when I moved my cursor up to the formatting bar. I ended up having to take avoidance action by making wide sweeps out of the text box, up over and down, to where I wanted to work on the formatting bar!!! (Strange to say the least...)
I have, much to my pleasure received a comment to my article today and I should like to reply to the person who commented. You have no reply box or button. The only thing I can do it seems, is to send a personal email - not quite the same thing as maintaining a link to ones blog. Is there likely to be any development on this feature?
i'd like to use advanced html graphics, but don't know how, and can't find the faq's on how to change my "work pallette" to my live pallette. (default...) i think.. right now, everything comes up in plain text with a white background, but advanced html allows me to do some nice things... but i can't figure at how. forgive me, i'm new at this.. any help out there?
thanks...pray for peace..out...rich
But Pioneer, you are going to be opening up my travels to public view. Is that not the same thing. Why don't you simply allow the blogger to turn off an external view of their travels? As for a public view of my travels in leaving comments, I think it reasonable that I should be able to set privacy on that as well.
I assume you are talking about me allowing people to see public comments/posts you have made in an easy to find location. There is a difference with this -- you have chosen to make yourself known publically in those instances -- there is no way to hide the fact that you left a public comment... you are also indexed into external search engines. Anyone can see where you left a comment, we are just considering making it more convenient. I may consider adding an option to hide your comment log, as that is a reasonable request -- however regardless of whether it is hidden, anyone will be able to locate your comments using our search, or an external search engine.
You are asking me to show the trails/visits of people that don't perform a public action... and suggesting they have to opt-out from that feature. I don't think it is reasonable to tell people that just creating an account means they may be monitored by anyone else on the system, even if they don't do anything publically.

Dear Friend,
Would you like to workonline from home and get paid weekly?
Universal Fabrics & FashionInc needs a bookkeeper in the state, so I want to know if you will liketo work online from home and get paid weekly without leaving oraffecting your present job? It's just that I presently run a textile andfabrics firm I inherited from my late Dad here in the London UK and weneed someone to work for the company as a representative/book keeper inthe states.
My company produces various clothing materials, batiks, assorted fabrics and traditional costume, which we have clients we supply weekly in the states. My clients make payments for our suppliesevery week in form of Money Orders, which are not readily cashableoutside the United
States, so we need someone in the States to work asour representative and assist us in processing the payments from our clients and I will pay him weekly salary! .
ALL YOU NEED TO DO ISRECEIVE THIS PAYMENTS FROM OUR
CLIENTS IN THE STATES IN FORM OF MONEYORDER AND THEN GET IT CASHED IN YOUR BANK THEN DEDUCT YOUR WEEKLY PAYAND FOWARD THE BALANCE TO THE COMPANY DOWN HERE VIA MONEYGRAM OR WESTERNUNION MONEY TRANSFER.
Our payments will be issued out in your nameand you get them cashed in your bank deduct your weekly salary andforward the balance to the company via MoneyGram or Western Union MoneyTransfer.
I AWAIT YOUR URGENT RESPONSE.
send your reply to myprivate mail:sperrysean@yahoo.com

thank you!
1. Create a field (bottom right) on the blog page that shows the titles and descriptions of other blogs of the owner of the blog being read.
2. Adopt the feature found at blogster where and individual topic can be designated as any one of a variety of subjects....like you currently do for an entire blog. Most people wish to talk about all kinds of subjects within their blog. But most of us will not know that presently without a painstaking search.
A technical question. I have more than one blog under Stealtharachnid. I have deactivated all but one. Although they are deactivated, will there posts and comments be saved should I reactivate them at a future date since I still have an active blog as stealtharachnid? How long?
I recently reactivated a blog, and everything was there where I left it. You should be fine.
Thankyou!!
Do I need to do something. I am getting other comments tho from outside the stream!!!
Thanks!
Our times are in EST, are you located on the west coast by any chance? If so the times will show 3 hours later than your time zone.

Recently at Whit's Whitlings ... they were talking about RSS Feeds ... To the best of my knowledge, I commented:
Whit,
For the sake of clarity, I looked up RSS. Some of what I found is ...
What Is RSS?
How does RSS syndication work? Say you publish a new web page about a particular topic. You want others interested in that topic to know about it. By listing the page as an "item" in your RSS file, you can have the page appear in front of those who read information using RSS readers or "news aggregators" (explained more in my sidebar article, RSS: Your Gateway To News & Blog Content). RSS also allows people to easily add links to your content within their own web pages. Bloggers are a huge core audience that especially does this.
What does RSS stand for? There's a can of worms. RSS as introduced by Netscape in 1999 then later abandoned in 2001 stood for "Rich Site Summary." Another version of RSS pioneered by UserLand Software stands for "Really Simple Syndication." In yet another version, RSS stands for "RDF Site Summary."
RSS is simply a way for others outside of blogstream to "bookmark" a blog they like ... It's not against any rules ... It's available on almost any site you go to so that you can publicly bookmark that site on your blog or web-site and receive regular updates. That's all.
An example of one of those aggregators is Technorati ... If you go to Technorati and put the name of your blog into the search, you would be amazed at the people already subscribing to your blog! I googled the name of my blog and found versions of it in Spanish (maybe Portuguese?) and Korean (maybe Chinese?). I also found a site where a man in California was rewriting my posts word for word on his site and taking credit for writing them himself, or simply signing them anonymous or author unknown. LOL ... I guess that was a compliment?
I don't know that this information has helped your search for answers ... but RSS Feeds are quite harmless, as you see ... They don't really give anyone any magically elevated numbers ...
Joey and I have an on-line business. One way to increase visits to our sites is to use words in the heading that would attract people to what we are selling. I would imagine that same principle would work for blogs ...
For example, if I write an article about child abuse, instead of using a clever title that someone would have to read the article to understand, I would use a title that is more straightforward like "The Effects of Child Abuse" or "Signs That Your Child May Be Abused" so that when someone is searching for answers and they google, "What are the Effects of Child Abuse?", my article may actually show up in the search right alongside Web MD.
I don't really care a lot about how many people read my blog as long as the right people find comfort there. I share a lot about healing and recovery in the hopes that other people in need of healing or beginning recovery will feel encouraged, validated, and empowered. I am not a therapist or a counselor, and nothing I write can replace those, but everything I write can plant the seed that we all can heal from whatever is hurting us ...
Other people write for other reasons ... who knows what they all are? In blogging, there are no rules ... That's why people like it so much!
Huggggggggggggggggggz,
Taylor
Was that fairly accurate? Could you explain it better than me, please? Thanks!
Do you know if it is possible, in an easy step or a few steps to gather all of ones post in a blog to format for printing? I have upwards of 1000 articles and would like to have them printed for a coffee table type of book.
Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks.
I'm at danhare@cox.net
